Inhabitants of the Interface who find themselves in the True World are called demons. In reality this division is very misleading, since many more creatures live in the Interface (and many never visit the True World), and likewise some creatures live contentedly in both worlds. They also differ greatly according to the region where they live, as some dwell exclusively in the Light region, others in the Grey one, and others (most often considered the only demons) in the Dark region.
Summonable demons
In the True World it is precisely these beings that are considered demons, because they can easily be summoned by spells. And with them it is overwhelmingly the ones from the Dark region called Devourers, because these simple spells lure them with their food, which is nothing other than pure life force. Demonology is therefore often narrowed down to summoning insatiable monsters. The truth, however, is that no noble or wise being is likely to answer the call of a power-hungry sorcerer with a pentagram of blood and candles of human fat.
Creatures of both worlds
As we have already mentioned, some creatures can live in both worlds. The best known of them include:
dragon
gargoyle
gorgon
griffin
harpy
hydra
unicorn
manticore
sphinx
wyvern
Division by regions
Since the Interface is (from our point of view) highly magical, very strange things happen in it. Besides constant changes (one day mountains, the next day a lake) and illogicalities (rivers flowing upstream, bright darkness), there are three regions that have their own rules and apparently also a certain relationship to the True World (when there is war in our world, the Dark region grows). And these regions (even though they shift) have their own inhabitants, so you will never find Devourers in the Light region.
Devourers
The world of the Devourer demons is hollowed out in the depths of darkness and chaotic, raging turmoil. It is a merciless environment where demons live in constant conflict and ruthless rivalry. A lawful system rules here, in which stronger demons gain priority rights to hunt and consume weaker demons.
These demons are among the best known, because they can easily be lured by spells. Their name comes from their unceasing hunger, which they sate by consuming the essence of someone else, in the case of humans their soul (hence also their other name, Soul Devourers). The more power such a devourer swallows, the more its own power grows (and its size too). A small devourer is barely a puny devourer, but if it gets the chance to feed, it grows to colossal size, sprouts wings and gains incredible magical abilities.
If it is killed, its soul returns to the Dark region and starts again as a puny devourer (like other demons, it practically cannot die). With its death, all the souls it has devoured leave it.
Devourer demons take the forms of diverse and bizarre creatures. They are monsters with twisted bodies, stretched maws and incomprehensible mouths and teeth, forever ready to devour. They have claws that can tear flesh and hard scales that protect their bodies from attacks.
The ruling principle in this world is survival and strength. Devourer demons fight and devour one another in an effort to strengthen and increase their own power. In this way stronger demons absorb the strength and magical abilities of weaker demons, which allows them to grow and evolve into even more powerful forms.
In an effort to gain the upper hand and greater power, these demons form groups and packs led by the most ferocious and largest demons. These packs are forever at war with one another, competing for territory and resources, and striving for their leader to become the most powerful and largest demon in the whole world.
The world of the Devourer demons is dark and pitiless. Conflicts and battles are constant and are fed by an endless thirst for power. It is a place where survival means consuming others, and the demons stop at nothing to achieve their goal. For adventurers who dare to enter this world, this dimension is a deadly challenge and a danger they must overcome to stay alive.
Rulers
It is hard to imagine a more dangerous enemy than the rulers. These demons can control practically any creature they subjugate, just as a queen bee controls her bees. The more subjects they gain, the greater their power, since they draw their strength from them. The pinnacle is the Lord of Vampires, a divine being of unlimited power who rules half of the Dark region.
Puppeteers
The puppeteer is a very strange kind of demon that has no body of its own, only an essence that can attach itself to a living creature and then control it. The more powerful the puppeteer, the better it can control its host and even read its memory. A very experienced puppeteer can imitate its host so perfectly that not even his wife can tell the difference. It can then calmly weave its plans, multiply and attack more and more beings until it becomes an unlimited ruler.
Puppeteers command telepathy and can communicate well with each other even over greater distances, the most powerful even between worlds.
Beguilers
These demons hide their nature by posing as someone else and slowly draining the life force of their victims until they finally devour their soul. They differ from devourers mainly in style, as they always act inconspicuously and avoid direct confrontation. The more power they drain, the greater their power. A typical example of a beguiler is the succubus.
Watchmen
These demons quite often have an animal nature and a not very sharp mind. Their main instinct is to guard a certain place or thing. Unlike slaves, however, they usually have no master and guard by their very nature.
Weak races (slaves)
Several different races live in the Interface, largely resembling the creatures of the True World. We call them weaker because they have no magical abilities (or only very weak ones), which in this highly magical world puts them at a considerable disadvantage. These races often end up as slaves of stronger races or as their food.
Vampires and liches
The higher undead certainly belong neither to the Interface nor to the True World. Their existence is a manifestation of Chaos and a disruption of the Balance. They are the souls of mighty persons who did not accept the final judgment, but decided to resist and remained in the Interface, from where they return to the True World as beings of immoderate power and malice.
Lightbearers
Lightbearers are the opposite of vampires. They are the souls of heroes who died and came before their god, who offered them further service. They patrol the Interface so that the souls of the dead find their way and nobody disturbs or hunts them, and they also hunt dissolute souls that are afraid to accept judgment (especially vampires, but also others who do not want to leave the Interface onward through the Gates).
Elementals
Magical currents flow throughout the whole Interface and easily summon elementals (also because the Interface is closer to the elemental world than the True World). That is why we meet them here far more often than in the True World (and most of all at magical wellsprings).
Elemental demons
Many demons come from the connection of the Interface with the world of the elements. These demons are usually neutral and have part of their essence, strength and nature from the element from which they arose. They cannot be controlled like elementals, but weapons against elements work on them.
