The cave slug is a grey to black giant gastropod without a shell. Its body is made of an elastic mass covered with hard skin, which reliably protects it from enemies. It inhabits damp cave complexes, where it hunts larger vermin, especially rats. It is very predatory and attacks anything that moves; it does not need to see, it reacts to movement.

The slug is a hermaphrodite. Once a year it lays hundreds of eggs, but most of the young are eaten by rats and other animals. The surviving young are eaten even by their parent if they do not escape in time, because it cannot tell them apart from other food.

Combat

It first spits digestive juices at the victim, which act as a strong acid. Then it attacks with its mouth opening: like an ordinary slug, it has a tongue as rough as a file, but with it it can cut through even a forged door in a moment. A disabled victim it devours alive.

Ordinary weapons bounce off its rubbery body and the slug does not notice small wounds at all, so it does not even need to defend itself. Fire, spells and heavy blunt weapons are the most effective against it.
