The chasfon is a strange creature, or rather a phenomenon, that arises as a by-product of powerful spells or magical phenomena, or in places where elemental spheres intersect. It looks like a sphere of blue or orange light about the size of a human head and can hover several meters above the ground.
Sages do not consider it alive, even though it multiplies by division and feeds on magical energy. When it resists a spell, it absorbs its power and grows stronger. If it soaks up enough mana, it grows larger and its abilities increase; once it grows too large, it splits into two smaller chasfons. A wounded chasfon, on the other hand, weakens and shrinks until it finally ceases to exist. It likes to follow characters with magical power, because it can feed on them – a desperate wizard will then give anything to get rid of a swarm of chasfons.
Combat
The chasfon is ghostly, and therefore it is very hard to harm it. Its attack is weak and it has no reason to attack on its own, except against a magical creature or a sorcerer who is too dangerous.
Absorbing Spells: if a chasfon is the target of a spell, it has two attempts to resist it; if it is merely within its range, it can try to absorb it with one roll. If it fails totally in doing so, it explodes and ceases to exist. It can absorb prayers in the same way (the priest's priestly power counts instead of the wizard's magic).
