The Drischea looks like a beautiful tree covered with white blossoms and juicy fruit, growing in warm jungles. In truth it is a predatory creature. With its appearance it lures victims, which it then paralyzes with pollen or poisons with fruit. The stupefied creatures it seizes with its roots and within about an hour brings them to its mouth opening, where it dissolves them. It multiplies from the seeds in its fruit, but only with difficulty, because the fruit rarely gets farther than a few steps from the mother tree.

Combat

The Drischea has no direct attacks, knows no fear and does not need to see. It proceeds in phases:

Lure: with its appearance it lures passers-by to come closer.

Pollen: whoever gets right up to the tree may be paralyzed for a long time by the pollen from its blossoms.

Poisonous Fruit: whoever resists may taste the fruit. It is violently poisonous and can kill the victim on the spot.

Roots: whoever resists even that, the drischea tries to bind with many roots and slowly drag to its mouth. The victim can hack through them with a short weapon, if it has one at hand.

Unsuitable Weapons: clubs, hammers, bows, spears or stones hardly harm it; cutting weapons and axes are effective.
