The elephant is a colossal animal up to four meters tall and many tons heavy, with grey or brown skin. You recognize it at first glance by its two white tusks, long trunk and huge ears.

Elephants are peaceful herbivores from warm jungles. They live in smaller herds made up of several pairs and their young, and they are very clever; the herd acts in an organized way and together. Even so, they are the true lords of the jungle: no beast of prey dares to stand in their way. Thanks to their strength they need fear nothing, so they are rarely provoked. Only the young are vulnerable, and the herd defends them stubbornly. Solitary elephants, on the other hand, tend to be aggressive and often attack other creatures.

Elephants live sixty to seventy years. Once every several years the female usually gives birth to a single young, which takes twenty years to reach full strength.

Combat

The mere sight of an enraged elephant is frightening. Smaller enemies the elephant tramples or grabs with its trunk and crushes; larger ones (such as rhinoceroses) it attacks with its tusks, first with a charge. It is persistent and surprisingly fast over a short distance. Elephants fear large fires, such as a forest fire, and instinctively flee from them.
