The fire dog is a fire demon resembling a giant dog with red-and-black fur, pointed ears and huge fangs, surrounded by flames.

From its homeland it can pass on its own into a scorching desert or the surroundings of a volcano. When it lives on its own, it hides by day in a lair or buries itself in the sand. A summoned dog serves its master devotedly, most often as a guard; it has the temperament of a real dog and is very watchful.

Combat

The fire dog's strongest weapon is its fire breath. It tries to use it right at the start of a fight to turn the outcome in its favour. It cannot use the breath repeatedly in a row; it must always wait several rounds between bursts of fire. Otherwise it fights with its teeth.
