The forest phantom has a human-like figure made of leaves, bark and roots. It moves soundlessly and leaves no tracks. Its maw is full of sharp teeth and its hands end in claws, in which it can also hold a weapon.

It lives exclusively in the deep forest and hunts everything that lives. It drags its prey to a clearing, guts it, devours the flesh and hangs the remains in the trees. Not infrequently it also attacks farms at the edge of the forest, where it kills livestock and people.

It is no ordinary creature, but a monster created by the magic of the forest from the wrath and death of someone, most often a druid or another character killed in the forest. It carries within it an imprint of the dead person's soul and is therefore partly undead, but neither the forest nor daylight harms it.

Combat

It is a powerful magical opponent. Once per day it can cast the spell Forest Darkness, in which it sees nothing itself. It is highly resistant to nature magic. On the anniversary of the day its originator was killed, it is so strong that it rolls all rolls twice and takes the better result.
