Harpies are malevolent creatures with a woman's head and a bird's body, with taloned feet and wings. Their feathers are ash grey or black. The woman's face is beautiful, but hidden malice shows in it.

They live in flocks, usually of around ten, among rocks, where they have a lair in a rock crevice or a cave. They are carnivorous and hunt together. The remains of their victims pile up in the lair, often including valuables, which harpies do not care about at all.

Combat

Harpies are not bright and you should not expect tactics from them, but they coordinate their attacks well and make use of their numbers. They swoop on their prey from above, hunt it down or force it to jump off a cliff, then carry it to their lair and devour it together. When there are not enough of them or when several of them fall, they prefer to fly away. They can also fight on the ground, for example in their lair.

Shriek: a harpy's screech is so sharp and piercing that it stuns the victim like a shock and hinders all of its actions.
