The narghoul is a strange creature, partly living and partly undead. It arises from a ghoul with which a peculiar fungus grows together. For the fungus to sprout and overcome the power of death surrounding the ghoul, the ghoul must have enough food. The narghoul therefore must eat constantly and cannot fall into a long lethargy, otherwise the fungus dies. The longer they live together, the more they merge. Narghouls multiply by catching ghouls and letting their fungus grow through them.

The fungus strengthens narghouls (they keep the advantages of ghouls), regenerates them, speeds them up and protects them from the sun: they can bear even weak sunshine, and only the direct midday sun weakens them. Even white spells have no effect on them.

They are so aggressive that they wage a war of extermination against their surroundings. Either they occupy a whole area and then die of hunger, or someone has to wipe them out.
