The Devil Octopus is known by many names, and an encounter with it is one of the nightmares of sailors, because it can pick out even a whole ship as prey. Mostly, however, it keeps to the depths, where it hunts large fish and strange creatures from the ocean floor that the human eye has never seen.

Otherwise it differs little from its smaller relative, the giant octopus: it is clever, catches and crushes prey with its tentacles and, when in need, withdraws back into the depths.

Combat

Tentacles

Each tentacle is a separate limb and can be disabled or cut off. If the octopus loses half of its tentacles or is seriously wounded, it releases its prey, squirts ink and flees.

Ink

Ink released into the water makes it almost impossible to see anything over a wide area. The octopus itself cannot see in it either, but it easily finds its way in it and swims away.
