The sorog is a huge spider that weaves dense webs at the edges of swamps, in gorges and in dense forests, and catches its prey in them. Once a year it leaves its web and sets out to find a female. She lays hundreds of eggs, but the young spiders are very vulnerable, and so only a fraction of them live to adulthood.

Combat

The sorog poisons captured prey with venom, wraps it in a cocoon and leaves it to “ripen”; it may have several cocoons in its web, which it gradually sucks dry. Outside its web it attacks only rarely, for example on its way to a female.

Telepathy

The sorog commands a peculiar form of telepathy, which it uses to lure prey to its web. It does not use it in any sophisticated way; it merely plants the thought “come” or “food” in the victim's mind; a strong will can resist it.
