The tiger is a large brownish-yellow beast of prey with characteristic black stripes. It weighs over 250 kg and measures two and a half meters or more. It lives in impenetrable jungles and is excellently adapted to moving in the forest: it passes silently even through dense brush and runs fast even through the densest undergrowth.

It hunts mostly alone and by day; it attacks at night only rarely. It most often hunts pigs, deer and buffalo. The female usually gives birth to three cubs, which mature in two years; tigers live up to twenty years.

Combat

The tiger is an excellent hunter. It often lies unnoticed in the bushes and suddenly pounces on a surprised victim; it bursts out like lightning, leaps effortlessly and can run for a long time. Apart from elephants and large lizards, it is the undisputed master of the primeval forest.
