Ubegs are large brown creatures with mandibles and insect eyes. They live underground, where they dig long, winding tunnels. While digging they sift the soil and devour everything edible, from larger insects to rodents, roots and fungi.

They are fairly mild-tempered and do not attack larger creatures unless someone provokes them. They are loners, but once a year they gather in a group that begets young, cares for them for about a month and then disperses. A young one takes several years to grow and at first it is very vulnerable; underground, however, it is well protected and most often dies when it surfaces and falls prey to predators.

Combat

An ubeg swings its paws, which can pierce even steel armor. It can also engage an opponent in wrestling and crush them.
