Uths are predatory creatures that live in small herds or alone on savannas and in sparse deciduous forests. A herd occupies a territory of about one square kilometer, from which it drives out other predators. In need, uths will make do even with leaves from trees.

The herd is led by a larger and stronger lead female. As long as she is with the herd, she gives the others courage. At the beginning of spring the females lay eggs, from which the young hatch in about two months – at that time the herd is most dangerous.

Combat

An uth attacks with a kick or its beak. A herd advances in an organized way: the uths circle their victim so that they can attack from all sides at once. They mostly fight for food, and when they suffer losses, they retreat. If the lead female is killed, the herd scatters.
