Wolves live from the arctic through temperate forests to the steppes. In summer they form family packs, in winter they band together into large packs of several dozen animals. They live by hunting game, which they surround and gradually run down.

They attack humans only rarely, most often in winter, when game is scarce. A strong and hungry pack, however, will dare to attack even a group of travelers.

Combat

A wolf attacks with a leap and tries to knock its victim to the ground. A pack proceeds deliberately: some wolves attack from the front, the others circle around the victim and pull it to the ground, where the group easily overpowers it. The strongest wolf is the pack leader; when it falls, the pack often retreats.
