Fight power 3 | Magic vision 5 | Legs 4 | Flying 20

A wyvern is a flying lizard with a narrow maw full of sharp teeth, a pair of bat wings and a long tail. It is a predatory carnivore that lives in damp forests and swamps. It can fly, but it is not very sure of itself on its weak wings, and so it prefers to fight on the ground.

It feeds on whatever it finds, from rats through forest game to snakes. It does not scorn carrion either and is not afraid to attack smaller predators, such as wolves. It hunts exclusively alone and will not tolerate another wyvern in its territory.

After mating in spring, the female lays her eggs in hot springs or warm mud, places several carcasses by them and no longer cares for the young. They soon hatch, at first live in water and mud and hunt frogs, fish and other water creatures. As soon as their venom sacs grow, they dare to take on stronger animals as well. After about half a year they leave the water and reach full size in roughly two years.

Combat

A wyvern is a dangerous adversary: besides its sharp teeth, its bite causes poisoning. It is itself resistant to most poisons, and its own poison does not affect it at all.
