Manufacture
Even with the best instruments, you can't be sure that your production will be successful. The following relationship indicates your chance of successful production of an object:
Comparison roll
alchemy + 2d6
against
difficulty + 2d6
+ 2 for 1 longer time (see Time shift ) (at least 1 day) and you must have the recipe written down
+ 2 for double the ingredients
- 5 if you have not mastered the given sphere and are making an elemental or master product
- 10 for an elemental product if you have not mastered the master sphere
- 5 half of the ingredients
He makes a success roll, rolls 5, total 17.
The GM rolls for the difficulty: he gets 3, total 18, so Spider fails.
If he had spent more time on the manufacture (1 day instead of 1 hour), he would have succeeded (bonus +2, total 19). Likewise he could have spent more resources.
Difficulty
The difficulty of a product depends on its level (5x level to be exact) and ranges from 5 for the simplest to 35 for the most difficult products. In the Basics chapter you will find a table of difficulties by level.
Fatal Failure
The fatal failure effect of alchemy is no different from the normal rules. Here are examples of the consequences that can occur:
| Number of ones | Effect |
|---|---|
| 2 | Small explosion, minor damage to the surroundings Price / Level // -3 |
| 3 | Apparatus destroyed, the product hits you with its effect |
| 4 | Big explosion 2 x Price / Level // 1 |
Total Success
If your production performs well beyond expectations, we're talking about a total success. In this case, you can choose:
Higher effects
Thanks to the combination of your art and a lucky star, the product is much stronger than under normal conditions. If, in addition to the normal bonuses, a number in brackets is listed, this (higher) value applies. If not, the GM will describe the stronger effects to you.
Compatible Item
On a roll for Magical failure, the product does not count towards your total number of magic effects.
Stronger analogue
The difficulty of all success rolls against the product is 3 higher.
Change of Duration
The product has a Duration 1 longer or shorter, as you choose (or double the effects).
Longer lifetime
The product has a lifetime 2 longer (according to the Time shift table).
Bulk production
If you need to make several things at once and have enough raw materials, you can use this procedure for production "in bulk." The time stays the same, you have to supply raw materials according to the quantity produced, and the number of products you can make at once depends on the apparatus used, or on your Feats.
You only roll once for success on all production - if you succeed, you produce all things equally well; if you fail, the entire production fails and the raw materials are lost.
Price of products
The price of products corresponds to the price of raw materials, time and complexity. If someone buys a product from an alchemist, they usually have no idea of the price. Alchemists tend to be very skilled merchants and can perfectly estimate how much a person can afford (and would rather sell them something weaker and easier to make).
| Product price = raw material price | |
| x2 | Complexity 4 and 5 |
| x3 | Complexity 6 and more |
| +2 sp | per day of production |
Analysis
Just as alchemists are able to make items, they can determine their abilities. We call this method analysis.
You can analyze potions, powders, poisons, magical and permanent items, and raw materials.
For an analysis you need 3 sq of raw materials of the field you use and one hour of time. Success is checked by a roll:
Analysis
given alchemy + 2d6
against
2d6 +
5 common items
10 uncommon items
15 rare items
Modifiers
+2 for using an indicator
+2 for 1 longer time
On success you determine the effects of the item approximately, on total success quite accurately.
You will also find out what components (types of raw materials) the substance contains. With total success, you will know the exact amount of the contained substances.
Recharging Items
Some master items can cast spells - their current and maximum mana is listed. For 1 mana crystal an item can be recharged by 5 MP. Even an instructed layman can do this.
Single-use items or items with several uses cannot be recharged.
