Contacts and relationship

An important part of the game consists of your character's friends, acquaintances and enemies. All these persons are collectively called "contacts". Contacts include both non-player characters (NPCs) and the characters of the other players in your group.

At the end of the rules, among the Journal sheets, you will find a table in which you can record your acquaintances. Start with the contacts that follow from your background. As you play, add all the persons you get to know.

Details listed for a contact

Name

Write here the name under which you know the person.

Con (Contact)

Shows how well you know the given person.

Rel (Relationship)

Your relationship to the person.

Place

The town, village or area where the contact lives, can be found or reached.

Description

Further description of the contact - race, occupation and the like.

Contact (Con)

Shows how well you know the character. For a new contact you can write the value 0. If you meet the person often and get to know them better, you can agree with the GM on raising the contact to 1 and later to 2. Contact 3 is exceptional.

This restriction does not apply to contacts arising from your background; however, it is up to the GM whether to allow you the contact.

Contact strength
Con Description
below 0 you do not know each other
0 you know each other by hearsay, you have met a couple of times
+1 you know each other briefly (you know basic details about the person: what they look like, how they make a living, etc.)
+2 you know each other well (after about a year you know more about the person - their interests, approximate personality, friends, enemies, etc.)
+3 you know each other excellently (you know practically everything about the contact; typically family members, spouses and very good friends have such a contact)

Relationship to the contact (Rel)

Shows what relationship you have to the contact (from -3 to +3).

For each contact, agree with the GM on the relationship you have to them after the first meeting (usually 0; the value may differ based on personality, for example if the character dislikes dwarves, their new relationship to the dwarf Wakhor will be -1 to -2).

During the game your relationship to the contact develops. If you think it has changed, agree with the GM on reassessing your relationship to the person.

Vearmea has a relationship of 0 to the innkeeper Vulture. After he robs her and throws her out on the street, her relationship drops to -2

Note: Your relationship to others depends to a large extent on personality, especially on alignment. A good character makes friends more easily than an evil one.

Description of the relationship
Rel Description
-3 hates them with all their being, would rather see them dead
-2 cannot stand them - would not sit at the same table with them in a tavern
-1 dislikes them, but gets over it
0 neutral, not interested in them
+1 pal - likes them
+2 friend - likes them very much
+3 loves them, would sacrifice their life for them, cannot live without them

Contacts with groups

Besides contacts with individuals, a character can have a contact with a whole group of persons, for example a thieves', smiths', merchants', wizards' or other guild in a particular town, a whole village or a small estate.

The character knows the contact persons of the given group, the scope of their activities and their possibilities.

Gaining a contact with a group depends on how you play the character (during the game you gain new contacts and must maintain them) and on your character's background.

Contact's abilities

The abilities and skills of a contact are determined and known by the GM. The better you know your contact (the Con value), the more precisely you know their possibilities, abilities and skills.

Contacts with places

Just as you can have a contact with a person or a group, you can have a "contact" with a place. In the same way you can express how well you know the given place (area) and what relationship you have to it.

Using places, you can neatly organize your contacts with persons. First you describe the place, and then you add contacts with persons and groups to it.
