Favour

Priests, unlike spellcasting characters, ask their god (or gods) for help. The essence of their actions is faith in the god, humility and devotion. A priest does not release power from themselves or their surroundings, but is a focus that the god fills with power, which the priest must channel.

The ability to understand a god and ask for their help is expressed by the level of priesthood (PR).

Favour

The boldness of your request is measured by a value we call favour, measured in favour points (fp). The amount of your favour depends mainly on your charisma:

If you use up all your favour, you cannot send prayers.

Daily prayer

Once a day you gain, through a small prayer, 1 fp for every 10 fp of your maximum favour (+1 more in a shrine, +2 in a temple).

For this, however, you must have a holy symbol or a holy item. The length depends on the god's style; for war cults a few minutes is enough, the more long-winded ones may take even an hour. The time of day also depends on the deity.

Monthly prayer

Once a month you can perform a ceremony that replenishes your favour. Some gods may want an offering or may have a different frequency. The length of the ritual again depends on the deity; e.g. for a moon deity it will last the whole night of the full moon.

The condition of the ritual is holy ground, ideally a temple. Some deities, e.g. moon deities, may consider a certain time holy (the full moon).

Prayer of reckoning

The holiest ritual is the Prayer of reckoning. During it your god evaluates your deeds since the last prayer of reckoning and accordingly gives you their favour, even up to your maximum. If you still have some favour, they may let you keep it.

If you have done nothing between the prayers, it will be only a small prayer.

The prayer of reckoning is strengthened in a holy place or temple, but it can be performed anywhere.

For some deities it is better to choose the right time.
