Invulnerability
Monsters and characters protected by spells can be invulnerable (or harder to wound) to ordinary weapons. To be able to wound them, you must have a magical weapon that can overcome this limitation.
Levels of invulnerability
Invulnerability is given in levels (e.g. weapon invulnerability +1). Each level lowers the damage multiplier (Dmg) by 1 against the given kind of attack. Weapon invulnerability also raises AC by 5. A spectral attack uses neither WP nor AC, so invulnerability to spectral attacks only lowers Dmg. Count a multiplier lower than 1 according to the table Damage multiplier.
Magical creatures
Most magical creatures resist ordinary wounds well (as a rule they count a high AC and take only half damage). To overcome this advantage you must have a weapon with Magical strength or a Destroyer of Magical Monsters.
Magical aura
Powerful spells or monsters may have an ability that considerably weakens an ordinary weapon. Magical strength or a similar ability works against them too.
Regeneration
Regeneration is a special ability by which a creature's wounds heal quickly. It is not invulnerability in the true sense of the word, but it is very similar. The attacker must kill such a creature, otherwise its wounds heal (often even one level per round). Against this ability, blood draining works (if the creature is alive), or a weapon against a certain group (for example a weapon against werewolves prevents them from regenerating).
Ghostliness
Ghostliness is the highest form of invulnerability, see Ghostliness ).
