One / two hands

Two-handed fighting

WS, WA, WD - 1

WP +3

The Str for two hands is enough for you

When fighting with one-handed weapons two-handed, less strength is enough (the number in brackets at Str in the Weapon Table).

One-handed fighting

WP - 5

you need the Str for one hand

Using two-handed weapons one-handed requires much greater strength than usual. The required strength is given in brackets at Str in the Weapon Table. In addition, you get a -5 penalty to penetration.

Left hand

(not with a shield)

WS, WA, WD - 2

Str - 2

If for some reason you fight only with your left hand, you have a penalty with it to all combat stats. Since it has less strength, you may have trouble with a heavier weapon.

Shield or two weapons

If you use a shield, you gain considerable advantages. You can compensate for your weakness in defending with a weapon (especially with heavy weapons), protect yourself against missiles, or greatly strengthen your defensive options by combining weapon and shield. If you have only a shield, you use it as a completely ordinary weapon.

Mastering two weapons is even more demanding, because you must also train your left hand (see above).

Combat

In the Shields and two weapons table at the end of the rules, find the shield or weapon you use. Add / subtract the modifiers for your second weapon / shield to / from your main stats.

Notice that although you gain defense, you lose speed and hit. The larger the shield, the greater the difference, which means that you cover yourself excellently, but the shield hinders you and slows you down.

Two weapons

For two weapons you will find only two modifiers: light and heavy. In the first case you have at least a knife or a short sword in one hand. The second option means that both your weapons are heavier than a short sword and preferably identical.

Encumbrance

Count the weight for both weapons.

Required strength

To use a weapon and a shield, or two weapons, you must have sufficient strength. Find the required strength for both weapons and take the higher one. If you use two heavy weapons, the strength requirement rises by 2.

You get a -1 penalty to WS, WA, WP and WD for each level of strength you are missing.

Shield only

If, for example, you lose your main weapon, you can use only the shield. Take unarmed fighting as the base, but with the shield you cause real damage.

Shield and throwing

If you throw (shoot) while covering yourself with a shield, modify your throwing weapon according to the shield. Your speed and hit will drop, but you will have a far better defense.

If you are the target of an attack, however, the rules for secondary activity apply to you.

Throwing or shooting with both hands at once

Left hand

With the left hand you have a -2 penalty to WS, WA and Str.

Common Spd

Calculate both speeds, take the worse one and reduce it by 2.

Speed = the slower of the speeds

Drawing a weapon / loading

You can draw weapons or load (if it can be done with one hand) simultaneously, for example draw two knives for 1 action.

Simultaneous throw / shot

You can throw or shoot with both hands at once, provided that you throw at the same target and have identical (very similar) weapons. In effect you gain the possibility of attacking twice for the same number of actions.

Different targets

If you shoot at several targets, you must spend actions for each one separately, and each attack must always include a base (shooting) action; an advantage alone is not enough.

Fighting several opponents

You can actively fight several opponents at once, but each attack must always include a base action; a bonus action alone is not enough.
