Magic scrolls
You can write any spell you know onto a magic scroll. The scroll is then surrounded by a cloud of magic, which is consumed at the moment someone reads it. You can likewise use other people's scrolls.
Casting spells from scrolls
Scrolls can be used by any character who can read and knows the language of the scroll.
As the scroll is read, the writing gradually disappears in a magical flame; when the spell is finished, a blank parchment remains that can be used again To read it you need the same time as to invoke the spell from your mind plus 1 extra action.
All parameters of a spell cast from a scroll derive from whoever wrote it. The reader has no influence on the spell's strength.
Writing a scroll
It is customary (but not necessary) to write a scroll in the wizards' language, so that unauthorized persons cannot use it. The writing itself must have a certain style and form, because this is not an accounting statement but mighty magic. A scroll is therefore written in ornate script, decorated and often sealed with wax; otherwise the wizard comes across as an amateur and a dilettante.
Binding energy of mana crystals
An absolutely essential thing is binding the scroll's energy with mana crystals. For every 5 MP of the bound spell you must insert 1 mana crystal. Only an extremely magical material, such as dragon skin, doesn't need binding power; otherwise the scroll won't last even a few minutes (but then you must spend your own mana).
Time
Writing the scroll itself always takes 1 hour plus the original time made two steps slower (according to the Time Shift Table).
